About VIN Labels & their Verifiers

Verifiers Required:

VER-1 ( Avery Dennison GenuGraphic I & II
            Viewing Lenses )
UV-1   ( V.I.N. Ultraviolet Pocket Fluorescent )

Avery Dennison GenuGraphic Anti-Theft labels are a pressure sensitive polyester label that permanently marks metal & plastic components. Scrambled patterns of color & shapes disguise indicia making counterfeits easy to spot with the GenuGraphic I & II Viewing Lenses.

Use the correct GenuGraphic Viewing Lense to unscramble the GenuGraphic pattern, letters or symbols. GenuGraphic Labels will read "Genuine", the car company name, an easily identifiable company symbol patterned throughout the background of the label or any combination of the three.

Use an Ultraviolet ( Black ) light to scan the surface of the label. GenuGraphic Labels are covered with a special UV coating. If erasure of the VIN number has been attempted, this coating will be invalidated, and the spot will be visible under ultraviolet light.

Examples of Avery Labels

If label is removed, a permanent marking "footprint" can be viewed under black light.

Verifiers Required:

VER-2 ( 3M Security Laminate Verifier )

UV-1   ( V.I.N. Ultraviolet Pocket Fluorescent )

Confirm security film is embedded with microscopic glass beads and optical coating that form two distinct levels of reflectivity. When the label is viewed using the 3M Security Laminate Verifier, the light reflects directly back into the viewers eye- the images on the confirm film become brighter, as the background information virtually disappears. Attempts to alter or remove the film will damage the optical elements, rendering them non-reflective.

In addition to its retro-reflective properties, the Confirm security film also contains a UV-absorbing dye, designed to penetrate many plastics and most freshly painted metal surfaces. If the window of the label is subsequently removed from this surface, a "footprint " will be visible on the paint surface when viewed with an ultraviolet light source.

When looking at the label with focused light, this clear reflected image tells you that this security  label is authentic.

Window of a label is removed, a black light shows an invisible "footprint".

Attempted removal results in outer portion of the label breaking away.
